Band of Mothers - The Women of Beachy Company

Posted on Mon January 8, 2024 in Seaside Cottages - Fish Hoek Beach.

A tribute to all the women who work at Seaside Cottages, Fish Hoek.

Remember the series, Band of Brothers? Remember the Easy Company during World War 2?
Our women are resilient and kind, true to our guests!

“Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; a mother’s secret hope outlives them all.”

(Oliver Wendell Holmes)

There is something special going on at Seaside Cottages in Fish Hoek. A magical band of Mothers makes every guest feel welcome and acknowledged. There is something warm and inviting about each cottage at Seaside Cottages, a home away from home, a peaceful sanctuary on Fish Hoek Beach.

When our customers arrive at Seaside Cottages and collect their keys, they meet a friendly woman in reception. She guides them to their designated cottage and shows them around. Little do the guests know what has been happening all morning in their holiday venue. The first thing that guests notice is that the cottage is spotlessly clean. The kitchen cutlery, crockery and pots are sparkling in their respective drawers and cupboards. They walk through to the bedroom and see the clean, crisp linen on the beds. They switch on the TV and appreciate that DStv is operational. The windows are also squeaky clean (quite a feat with such proximity to the salty ocean and sandy beach).

Many (Feminine) Hands Make Light Work

Nearly 30 cottages require the same procedure every day. Dedicated hands to clean, tidy and prepare living spaces into warm, friendly, homely refuges. This is the work of a magical band of mothers, wonder women who care. The enormity of the task cannot be underestimated. This hard work continues day in and day out, week in and week out, including some weekends and public holidays when the phone never stops ringing and check-ins run back to back. Warm hands strip beds, sweep floors, wash dishes and vacuum carpets. Then hang out the washing, remake beds, water gardens and check all amenities for functional perfection.

In the office, things are equally busy. Women at work, scrutinising Facebook, Gmail and Google, posting, replying, answering and referring. Answering never-ending ringing telephones, e-mailing quotations, dealing with questions requiring answers, and myriad problems requiring solutions. Special skills are involved in booking customers into suitable cottages with the right number of rooms, special needs and wheelchair-enabled facilities. Seaside Cottages also has reasonable regulations and expectations, and the handyman is always available.

The team of women at Seaside Cottages attend to tasks all day because they want to and because the customer comes first. Those who are on holiday are relaxing, deserving of their break and their special memory being made! Meet the band of women who add unparalleled service and character to Seaside Cottage and make it possible for all guests to completely relax and enjoy every minute at Seaside Cottages.
