Fish Hoek Beach Sports Club (FHBSC)

Hiding behind the dunes, the FHBSC is the heartbeat of local surf ski, SUP, surfing, ocean kayaking and Hobie sailing. It’s a relaxed, friendly spot with hot showers, a bar, and a kitchen — and it runs purely on volunteer energy. Members meet for regular surf ski paddles on Saturday mornings, casual training sessions midweek, and once a month, sailing days on the bay. When the wind howls, feisty, staunch locals take on the legendary Miller’s Run — a downwind blast from Miller’s Point straight to Fish Hoek Beach.

The club also hosts the Mocke Paddling School and the famous Miller’s Taxi, the shuttle that makes those downwinds possible.

Vlei to Fish Dash – 2025 Edition
A race like no other — from the vlei to the sea! The first 50 entries receive a free beanie, and winners take home cash. And yes, every finisher gets the ultimate prize: a boerie roll and an ice-cold beer on the house. The race starts with a lap around the vlei, through the river mouth, and then paddlers race to Fish Hoek Beach.

Seadog Paddle Series – From 3 October 2025
Every Friday evening through summer, Fish Hoek Lifesaving Club comes alive. Seadogs line up on surfskis, prones, SUPs, and malibus to face whatever the Atlantic throws down. Since 2009, this race has never been cancelled — rain, shine, wind, or wild seas. Do six races before 5 December and you’ll be in the draw for a full Christmas braai-and-roast package. Race hard, stay late, and support the lifesaving club.

Downwind Camps – 16–22 November 2025
Hosted by Dawid and Jasper Mocke, this is seven days of pure paddling heaven. From orientation to downwind masterclasses on the Millers Run, you’ll eat, sleep, and breathe surfski alongside world champions. Expect daily coaching, skills sessions, and more paddling than you thought possible. The Downwind Camps is a 7-day surfski adventure where paddlers surfski downwind on the Millers Run. From accommodation to equipment, paddlers are sorted and stress-free.

The Five Capes Expedition
For the truly adventurous: paddle around the five great capes of Southern Africa — Recife, Seal, Agulhas, Knysna Heads, and the Cape of Good Hope itself. A once-in-a-lifetime, bucket-list experience that ends with the iconic paddle around the fairest Cape of all.

Cape Point Challenge – 13 December 2025
The crown jewel of surfski racing. A 52km grind from Scarborough/Witsand to Fish Hoek, this race is as brutal as it is beautiful. Legends are made here on the Cape Point Challenge, and the record books are already packed with big names like Dawid Mocke, Hank McGregor, and Michele Eray.
